A Graduate Conference
in the Comparative Literature Department
at the University of Georgia

Conference date:
Saturday, October 24, 2009
9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

  • How are cultures and experiences portrayed by those without insider knowledge?
  • How can scholars best address translation across national, linguistic, cultural, historical or other borders?
  • Why is it important to pursue multinational and multilinguistic studies in today’s world, particularly within the discipline of Comparative Literature?

These are some of the questions that Comparative Literature poses. On October 24, 2009, graduate students and faculty from a variety of institutions will join us in a broad discussion of these and related issues at a conference organized by Comparative Literature graduate students at the University of Georgia. Our day long conference will feature presentations limited to twenty minutes.

Further details of the conference, such as meeting place, directions and lodging information, can be found in the links to the right. The schedule of speakers will be posted later this month.

The conference is open to all. Although undergraduates will not be presenting papers, we welcome all students who are interested in exploring these topics.
