Departmental Instructor Receives the 2020 Franklin College Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award Ms. Minh Trang Thi Nguyen, the instructor of Vietnamese in the department, is this year's recipient of the Franklin College Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award. The award recognizes a faculty member who has made a life-changing impact on students through sustained commitment to high-quality instruction in undergraduate teaching. Elliot Shaw Graduate Program, Teaching Assistant Elliot Shaw is a PhD candidate (ABD) in the CLIS program. He holds a BA in English and Secondary Education and an MA in Comparative Literature. His research occurs at the thresholds of literature, philosophy, and the social sciences. His dissertation, "The Apperceived Self: Autobiography and Self-Consciousness," demonstrates how apperception is central to both autobiographical writing and self-consciousness in general.
