Requirements for the A.B. Degree in Japanese Language and Literature
Requirements for a major leading to the A.B. degree in Japanese Language and Literature can be met in the following configuration of courses:
- Three courses in Japanese Language from the following group: JPNS 3010, JPNS 3020, JPNS 4110, JPNS 4120.
- Three courses in Asian Literature from the following group: CMLT 3220, CMLT 4220, CMLT 4600, CMLT 4610, CMLT 4620, JPNS 4500.
- Three courses in Asian Culture from the following group: ARHI 3040, ARHI 4620, ARHI 4930 (allowed for the major requirement if the course is about Asian art), CMLT (ANTH) 3180, GEOG 4740, HIST 3601, HIST 3602, HIST 4600, POLS 4390, RELI 3300, RELI 4401, RELI 4402, RELI 4403,RELI 4404, RELI 4910; a fourth Asian Literature course (CMLT 4600, CMLT 4610, CMLT 4620, or JPNS 4500). At least 15 hours of the required 27 hours must be earned at UGA. In consultation with the Undergraduate Coordinator, students will plan a program of study that centers on Japanese language, East Asian literature, and Asian culture in general.
