UGA Interdisciplinary Maymester in Tanzania

Maymester in Tanzania

Students learning in TanzaniaThe best classroom is the one without walls! We encourage motivated, adventurous students to join us in a fun and engaging experiential learning atmosphere on the ground in Tanzania. There are two programs: Maymester and Service Leaning. There are a range of academic topics are offered through these programs, topics which can only be covered traveling through a country as diverse as Tanzania. Expect to gain authentic experiential knowledge by seeing, discussing, and participating in activities you may never have the chance to engage in again.

Maymester Opportunities

Boat in TanzaniaThe Interdisciplinary Maymester program travels across northern Tanzania and down to the coast to the city of Dar es Salaam and the island of Zanzibar before returning to the mainland for the safari to Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti.  Students earn credit in two academic courses (either in core level or upper level) while participating in interdisciplinary activities.  Additional credit is available for those electing to add the optional Mt. Kilimanjaro climb after the Maymester.
